Reward, promote, recruit, and provide stimulating, motivating areas of responsibility. It's centered on people. Secondly, whenever possible, cluster functions to minimize communication pathways and grant small teams greater autonomy. I've found this challenging. Unless you have distinct, separate business units — almost independent companies within the company — reducing communication lines is difficult. You can attempt it, but communication necessities persist regardless of structural divisions. Nevertheless, it's a consideration.
